Board of Directors Meeting

The focus of the Ashton Board of Directors has been to ensure that every child in the Ashton School receives a balanced, innovative education that is aligned with the school’s Mission, Vision and Purpose and prepares them to be productive members in a global society. The board is committed to supporting Ashton’s Continuous School Improvement Plan by making data-informed decisions that will enhance the learning experience for each child and those who deliver the desired high-quality education. Current research-based Best Practices training in board governance at each meeting has enabled this body to grow in its effectiveness in monitoring continuous improvement and in future planning. The board recognizes the importance of self-evaluation with annual reflection and discernment of its own work.

Student voice is recognized with a student representative who reports to the board valuable information from the students’ perspective as part of the board’s commitment to establish two-way communication and build leadership skills within the student population. While some board members are from other countries, Ashton faculty, students and parents have opportunities to meet and interact with all board members through planned events and activities with internal and external stakeholders. Board members acknowledge that it is a gift to serve in this capacity, where the greatest reward is seen in the faces of the precious lives they touch.
