Aula HOPE continues to blossom under the umbrella of the Ashton Foundation and with the voluntary support of Ashton teachers, students and parents. Aula HOPE was founded and is designed to serve at-risk children, addressing their educational, physical, spiritual and medical needs, as well as to lend support, wherever possible, to their immediate families. It is completely funded by individual sponsors who become like godparents, affectionately referred to as “padrinos”.
Our vision is to eventually take the Ashton School curriculum, teaching strategies and general operating procedures to impoverished sectors of the community by helping to develop and guide Aula HOPE classrooms over time in different parts of the city. The first and only current Aula HOPE is operating in Los Praditos, where 42 six-grade students have been learning and maturing, under the guidance of many of us involved in lending support, since they first started the program seven years ago.
